Flagship store
We are proud to have worked closely with Lucien over the past year to design, redesign, and create several Lucien stores in Belgium. Achieving this result was made possible through strong collaboration between the parties involved. Some store locations were existing bicycle shops that only required a redesign, while other buildings needed a complete interior design and a major renovation. Lucien Wilrijk is a prime example of the latter!
From lighting store to practical bicycle shop
A unique shopping experience
How do we ensure that after the opening of Lucien Wilrijk, all of Belgium will be talking about the flagship store? That was the challenge for this project! In addition to offering a unique shopping experience, this interior project also had to meet the requirements: the number of products per product category, the amount of space for accessories, a coffee corner, and a clear (yet unobtrusive) connection between the workshop and the store. In short, plenty of challenges, where a practical logistical plan is crucial to ensure the daily operations in Lucien’s store run even more smoothly.
Recognizable appearance for Lucien Wilrijk
Lucien Bike
The appearance of Lucien is highly recognizable. Think of recurring quotes (‘wheelie nice to see you’), brand colors (dark green and blue), distinctive shapes, a neon pink delivery zone, green plants throughout the store, and a mix of wood and steel.

A central staircase
In the middle of the store, we added an extra staircase. The staircase is extra wide and features a comfortable step ‘run,’ and its location is much more accessible. The spacious atrium with a glass balustrade creates a good connection between the ground and upper floors. This ensures that visitors can easily find their way upstairs.
Information points to provide good service
Interior solution
The store features three counters and six cash registers. To prevent congestion at the counters from visitors with questions, we took the following steps: various information points are spread throughout the store. Additionally, right at the entrance, there is a general welcome counter with a comfortable bench. This interior solution supports Lucien’s core values, as they place great importance on service and quality!
A little extra for Lucien Wilrijk
The LED curtains and the LED stage give the store the extra flair it deserves. The good lighting also contributes to the beautiful presentation of Lucien’s products, ensuring that the products are showcased to their full potential. Additionally, the store features various displays that create a good combination of the main product (‘the bicycle’) and a matching accessory. This way, we also highlight practical solutions in the form of accessories for consumers.

The final result
”From design to execution went perfectly. They have a great team of fitters who kept their promises. The cheapest? I don’t know, but we’re not that either. It’s also about the details, for which they have a sharp eye. Even things I brought up last-minute were addressed. Nothing was too much. That was the case from the very first conversation to someone coming in on a Saturday to check and ask about our wishes and feedback. In the new, spacious store, customers are much more relaxed. People walk around longer and take their time looking at the offerings. The interior exudes calm. I already knew it was going to be very good, but it turned out even better.”
